Iftar mahfil of Saimum shilpi gosthi
No more division based on religious beliefs and culture: Farooki
An Iftar Mahfil was held by Saimum Shilpi Gosthi, one of the pioneer organizations of Islamic culture in the country. The event was organized at the White Hall Restaurant in Dhanmondi in the capital on Wednesday (March 19). The chief guest was the interim government’s cultural affairs advisor Mostafa Sarwar Farooki. There, he said, the government wants to build a Bangladesh of mutual respect, not division based on religion.
At the Iftar Mahfil, the cultural affairs advisor said, “Islamic culture was divided using the excuse of Bengali culture, which is why August 5 happened. The culture built around all religions, societies, and beliefs is part of this country. The government wants to build a Bangladesh of mutual respect, not division based on anyone’s religion.”
Around the Iftar Mahfil, a gathering of former and current artists, poets, playwrights, actors, lyricists and musicians of Saimum, starting from its inception, was held.
Chaired by Saimum director Zahidul Islam and moderated by assistant director Hafez Niyamul Hossain, the organization’s chairman and central president of Bangladesh Islamic Chatra Shibir, Zahidul Islam, was the special guest. The main discussant was Muhaddis Mufti Kazi Ibrahim. The Saimum artists expressed their determination to play a more leading role in the development of Islamic and indigenous culture in the face of foreign and Western culture.
The Iftar Mahfil commemorated the founding director, the late poet Matiur Rahmam Mallick, former president, poet Asad bin Hafiz, and all the deceased artists, and prayed for the forgiveness of their souls.
In addition, the barbaric Israeli aggression in Palestine was strongly condemned. The world community was called upon to speak out to stop all anti-human activities.
