79,000 students get primary scholarship, 32,965 talent pool
A total of 79,246 students across the country got scholarships in the Primary Scholarship Examination 2025. Of these, 32,965 got talent pool scholarships and 46,281 got general scholarships. Among the scholarship recipients, 35,892 are male students (45.29 percent) and 43,354 are female students (54.71 percent).
This information was given by Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr. A.N.M. Ehsanul Haque Milon at a press conference at the International Mother Language Institute in the capital on Sunday (July 12) afternoon.
He said that the Primary Scholarship Examination-2025 was held in April 2026 with the participation of fifth-grade students with the aim of exploring the merit of students, providing recognition and encouraging educational institutions to build a knowledge-based generation.
According to the Primary Scholarship Examination Policy 2026, a total of 82,500 scholarships were decided to be awarded nationwide. Of these, 33,000 are talent pool scholarships and 49,500 are general scholarships. In the case of talent pool scholarships, 80 percent quota was set for government primary schools and 20 percent for private schools.
On the other hand, out of the 49,500 general scholarships, 39,600 scholarships were allocated for government primary schools, five each (two male students, two female students and one merit-based) based on unions and wards. In addition, 20 percent general scholarships were reserved for private schools based on upazilas.
He said that a total of 78,810 schools participated in this year’s examination. Of these, 65,605 were government schools and 13,205 were private schools. The total number of registered candidates was 6,45,041. Of these, 2,56,117 were male students and 3,88,924 were female students.
A total of 4 lakh 19 thousand 982 students appeared in the examination, which is 65.11 percent of the registered examinees. Out of these, 3 lakh 44 thousand 127 (62.01 percent) from government schools and 75 thousand 855 (84.16 percent) from private schools participated in the examination. Among the examinees present, 1 lakh 66 thousand 641 (39.68 percent) were male and 2 lakh 53 thousand 341 (60.32 percent) were female.
Among the scholarship recipients, 26 thousand 375 from government schools and 6 thousand 590 from private schools received scholarships in the talent pool. On the other hand, 46 thousand 281 received general scholarships. Out of these, 36 thousand 420 from government schools and 9 thousand 861 from private schools.
Scholarship result upload starts, may take 2-3 hours
The Department of Primary Education in Mirpur has already started uploading the results. The entire result upload will be completed within 2-3 hours.
More than 640,000 students have participated in this year’s primary scholarship exam. Of these, about 550,000 are from government primary schools and about 90,000 are from private primary schools and kindergartens.
