169 lives lost on roads during Eid holidays: BRTA

The Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) said that 150 road accidents occurred across the country in a total of 11 days during the last Eid-ul-Azha holiday. The agency also said that 169 people died in these accidents. At the same time, 298 people were injured.

The matter was revealed in a report received from the operations branch of BRTA. It was said that the report was prepared in light of road accidents that occurred on roads and highways from June 4 to 14. The report also said that statistics on road accidents across the country were collected through the divisional offices of BRTA.

Of these, 46 people were killed and 88 injured in 44 accidents in Dhaka division. In addition, 24 people were killed and 54 injured in 22 accidents in Chittagong division; 16 people were killed and 21 injured in 11 accidents in Rajshahi division; 25 people were killed and 45 injured in 25 accidents in Khulna division; 10 people were killed and 16 injured in 10 accidents in Barisal division; 7 people were killed and 7 injured in 5 accidents in Sylhet division; 16 people were killed and 29 injured in 13 accidents in Rangpur division and 20 accidents in Mymensingh division.
