Fake news about Bangladesh Army in Indian media
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) has said that the news published in the Indian media about the Bangladesh Army is false and planned.
The ISPR protested in a statement on Tuesday (March 11) night.
It said that Indian media outlets The Economic Times and India Today have recently published baseless and fabricated reports about the possibility of a coup in the army and the breaking of the chain of command.
Expressing concern, the ISPR said in a statement that the reports were completely false and clearly part of a planned disinformation campaign aimed at undermining the stability of Bangladesh and the image of the armed forces.
The ISPR said, we want to clearly state that the Bangladesh Army is well-organized and united. We are committed to fulfilling our constitutional responsibilities under the able leadership of the Army Chief.
The statement mentioned that India’s The Economic Times has published such fake news more than once. Repeatedly spreading such untrue information raises questions about their motives and credibility. In addition, some online portals and controversial television channels have also joined in spreading this falsehood, which is nothing but an attempt to create confusion among the Bangladesh Army and the people.
The ISPR statement requested the Indian media to refrain from publishing baseless news. At the same time, these media outlets were also requested to contact the ISPR and publish appropriate comments and information before publishing reports related to the army.
