Journalist hacked to death in Gazipur, Bangladesh

A journalist named Md. Asaduzzaman Tuhin (38) from Gazipur district of Bangladesh was hacked to death by miscreants. The incident took place in front of the Mosque Market at the busiest Chandana intersection in the city at around 8 pm on Thursday (August 7). He was sitting at a tea shop at the time of the incident.

The deceased, Asaduzzaman Tuhin, was a staff reporter for the Gazipur district of the daily Pratidin er Kagoj. He was the son of Hasan Jamal of Bhatipara village under Fulbaria police station in Mymensingh. Tuhin lived with his family in the Chandana Chowrasta area.

According to local sources, Asaduzzaman Tuhin posted a video on his Facebook at around 8 pm and wrote, “The scene of crossing the road as you please. Gazipur intersection.” Then he was sitting in a tea shop in front of the mosque market and drinking tea. At that time, suddenly some terrorists surrounded him and hacked him with sharp weapons in front of the people and slit his throat and fled. He died on the spot.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Basan Police Station of Gazipur Metropolitan Police Md. Shaheen Khan said that after receiving the information, the police recovered the body of the deceased and sent it to the morgue. However, efforts are underway to find out who committed the murder and why.
