Inventing a low-cost device to decarbonize the atmosphere
A team of scientists from the US state of California has invented a device that can remove the amount of carbon a tree can remove from the atmosphere in a year with just 200 grams of powder.
The scientists claim that their invented device is capable of completely removing carbon from the atmosphere at a very low cost.
On October 23, the science journal ‘Nature’ published an article on this subject.
The article states that a tree can release as much carbon dioxide as it can from the atmosphere in a year using just 200 grams of powder, and that amount of carbon can be released from the atmosphere at a very low cost with a newly invented device.

The research team said that the type of device used to release carbon in power plants is very expensive. Such devices are not widely used.
Professor Omar Yagi of the University of California, Berkeley, who co-authored the article, said, “We filled a type of powder inside a tube and put it in the atmosphere of Berkeley to test how it works.”
Omar Yagi said, “Its effectiveness is really excellent! We saw that it completely released carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.”
He said, a stick was inserted inside it, which absorbed the gas molecules. It works like an organic framework (COF).
Professor Omar Yagi said, “I am really excited that no other device can remove carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere as effectively as this one! This is a big solution to the problem of climate change.”
The main author of the article, Jihui Zhou, said, “This ‘flue gas capture’ method works slowly on climate change. Because you don’t want to completely remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
Our method will take us back to the state of the atmosphere 100 years ago.
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPC) has emphasized the need to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, which is a greenhouse gas.
As a result of the industrial revolution, the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is now 50 percent higher than it was before.
The IPC said in a report that carbon capture is essential if we want to keep global warming at a limited level.
Orm Yagi’s research team has been researching this carbon capture device for 20 years.
