Mr. ATM Azharul Islam, a member of the Executive Council of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, an oppressed people’s leader, said, “I was imprisoned in the prison of the oppressive government for 14 years. They conspired to kill me by hanging me. So I want to say that just as the country has gained independence anew, so have I gained independence anew. By the will of Allah, the Lord of the Worlds, I was able to appear in front of millions of people from the gallows. My assassination was planned. I want to appeal to the government. Our leaders have been killed by hanging them and by keeping them in jail. Those who killed them should be brought under the law and tried. What was their crime? Their crime was that they were for the people of this country and for Islam.
He said, “Who has escaped today? No leader or activist of Jamaat-e-Islami has escaped. We have seen Bangladesh for 54 years. But there has been no change in Bangladesh in 54 years.
