Suicide attack near Ministry of Home Affairs Turkey
A suicide attack has been carried out in Ankara, the capital of Turkey. The Ministry of Home Affairs of the country said that a suicide attack was carried out with an explosive device near the relevant ministry building. Two police officers were reportedly injured in the incident. BBC news.
The country’s Home Minister Ali Yerlikaya said two men were responsible for the attack near the Ministry of Home Affairs building. One of them carried out a suicide attack and the other was prevented from carrying out the attack.
Al Jazeera reported that the attack happened around 9:30 local time. Security has been beefed up immediately after the attack. On the other hand, according to a BBC report, two attackers arrived there in a military vehicle at around 9:30 local time. The incident has been termed as a terrorist attack.
Parliament is scheduled to resume its session from Sunday (October 1) after the summer break. All members of parliament, including President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, were expected to attend the session at 2:00 p.m. local time. Meanwhile, the suicide attack happened in the morning.
It is still unclear what led to the attack. Besides, no one has yet claimed responsibility for the attack. In a post on social media, Home Minister Ali Yerlikaya said, “We will continue to fight against terrorism.”
