273 women were victims of murder, rape and torture in 1 month
In September this year alone, a total of 273 women were raped, murdered and tortured in Bangladesh. Bangladesh Mahila Parishad has published such information. They gave this information in a notification sent to Today Times. They say they are publishing this information based on the news published in 13 leading newspapers of the country.
They say that according to the news published in 13 national dailies, a total of 273 women and girls were subjected to torture in the month of September 2023. Among them, 64 people including 41 girls were victims of rape. Among them, 18 people including 7 daughters were victims of gang rape. 1 daughter was killed after being raped. 1 girl committed suicide due to rape. Also, 9 people including 7 girls were tried to rape.
12 people including 10 girls were sexually assaulted. 9 people including 7 girls were victims of harassment. 1 daughter has been trafficked. 1 person suffered acid burns. 2 persons including 1 daughter were victims of fire, out of which 1 person died due to fire. 8 people were tortured due to dowry, 5 people were killed due to dowry. 23 people including 8 daughters were victims of physical abuse.
3 people were subjected to physical abuse in the incident of domestic violence. 3 housemaids including 2 daughters have been killed, out of which 1 daughter has been killed by a housemaid. 42 people including 7 daughters were killed due to various reasons.
Attempted to kill 2 people. 30 people including 6 daughters died mysteriously. 22 people including 11 daughters committed suicide, out of which 2 people including 1 daughter were victims of suicide. Also, 1 daughter attempted suicide.
14 girls were victims of abduction. Also, there was an attempted abduction of 1 daughter. 1 person has become a victim of a fatwa incident. 6 people including 1 daughter were victims of cyber crime. There have been 3 cases of child marriage. 6 incidents of child marriage have been prevented. Besides, 10 people, including 3 daughters, have been subjected to various tortures.
