Folk singer Fakir Alamgir no more
Eminent folk singer and Ekushey Padak awardee Fakir Alamgir has died of Covid-19.
He breathed his last in the capital’s United Hospital where he was on life support.
The Ekushey Padak awardee and Shadhin Bangla Betar Kendra singer was one of the leading exponents of Gono Sangeet, the songs of the masses.
He played an important role as a member of Kranti Shilpi Gosthi and Gono Shilpi Gosthi during the mass upsurge in 1969.
