Local A-League wants the Prime Minister’s intervention to protect Mohanpur
Top leaders of the local Awami League have sought the intervention of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to get rid of the recent political unrest in Mohanpur Union of Matlab Uttar Upazila in Chandpur district. Where modern and world class tourist spots have been developed. Abdul Hai Pradhan, president of Mohanpur Union Awami League in the upazila, briefed reporters on the recent political unrest at a press conference on Monday (June 26, 2021).
He also spoke about the Mohanpur location and clash of former Disaster and Relief Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya on June 26 at 3.30 pm today. On the way to the minister’s house, a cocktail exploded in front of Mohanpur Tourism Ltd. from the procession and threw brickbats.
Several pedestrians were injured in the incident. At that time Matlab Uttar Police Station OC Muhammad Shahjahan Kamal took control of the situation by deploying police force. He said the people of Mohanpur were terrified after the incident.
Abdul Hai told reporters about the incident on February 12, 2021. On that day, Dipu Chowdhury, son of former minister Maya, and his accomplices opened fire on the Mohanpur Tourist Market on the banks of the Meghna at Mohanpur Launch Ghat. At that time Matlab Uttar Thana police came and recovered the bullet shell. Later, a case was filed on behalf of Mohanpur Tourism Ltd. He said that for the last two and a half years, the former minister had been attacking the peace-loving common people of Mohanpur by his own terrorist forces to exert his influence and was desperate to capture the privately-funded Mohanpur Tourism Limited.
The President of Union Awami League on behalf of the people of all walks of life including Mohanpur Union Awami League, Juba League, Chhatra League, Krishak League and Mahila Awami League appealed to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to protect Mohanpur Tourism Limited, an international standard tourist center built with private funds.
Matlab Uttar Upazila Awami League member Radheshyam Shah Chandu, Upazila Juba League member Kazi Habibur Rahman, Mohanpur UP Awami League leader Fazlul Haque Sarkar, Union Krishka League president Ebadul Haque Mridha, Awami League leader and heroic freedom fighter Billal Mridha, union members were present at the press conference.
