Freedom fighters on Razakars’ list: Minister apologises for the mistakes
Accepted responsibility for putting names of some freedom fighters in the Razakar lists, Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque on Tuesday said that his ministry is not behind the mistake.
“If the number of mistakes is too many, we will publish a revised list after proper investigation,” the minister said while talking to journalists at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) over the mistakes in the list of Razakars.
The minister also apologises for the mistakes.
“We have not edited the list which was provided by the home ministry. We published it as it was,” he added.
Mozammel also said that his ministry will take measures to bring corrections after proper investigation.
The official list of Razakars, which was published on Sunday, has drawn huge criticism here as the name of a Language Movement veteran and war-wounded freedom fighter among others is on it.
On December 15, the government published the names of 10,789 Razakars who collaborated with the Pakistan occupation army in carrying out mass killings and atrocities against the Bangalees during the 1971 Liberation War.
