BD Police unit chiefs asked to take steps to stop lynching incidents

The Police Headquarters (PHQ) has sent a letter to its all units asking them to stay alert and take steps to prevent the lynching incidents in the country.The police authorities think that a vested quarter is trying to create an unstable environment in the country through mob beating incidents spreading child-lifting rumours, according to the letter.

The letter, signed by Sayeed Toriqul Hasan, additional inspector general of Police (Operation), was issued on Monday and sent to all superintendents of police and unit chiefs. “Killing of anyone based on suspicion of child-lifting and creating an unstable environment through the spread of rumours are criminal offences,” the letter said.

Under this situation, The PHQ urged all superintendents of police and unit chiefs to toughen observance at the educational institutions and conduct awareness rising campaign across the country.

To increase public awareness, the country people were asked to not pay heed to rumours of child-lifters and to inform police immediately if anything is suspected. The PHQ also urged all unit chiefs of police to submit a report containing the steps taken in their regard within three days.
