Export-import thru’ Benapole land port suspended after clash

The export and import activities through Benapole land port remained suspended from Saturday morning following a clash among the truck drivers on the Indian side over maintaining serial.

 

Ali Haider Sharif, assistant commissioner, Customs, said an altercation among the truck drivers over maintaining serial on the Indian side led to a scuffle.

 

As tension escalated over the issue, the authorities concerned in the Indian side suspended the trade activities between the two countries in the morning, he said quoting Kartik Chakrawarty, general secretary of Indian C&F Agent Staff Association.

 

Several thousand trucks remained stranded on both sides of the landport.
