BD elected as UNGA Vice President 71st Session of UNGA
Bangladesh has been elected yesterday as the Vice President of the upcoming 71st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
There were 15 other countries from different regional groups elected as Vice Presidents.
As per rules, all the P-5 countries of United Nations Security Council are also the Vice Presidents of the UNGA session.
The term of the 71st session will begin in September at the commencement of the 71st General Assembly Session.
The United Nations General Assembly also elected Peter Thomson, Permanent Representative of Fiji, as President of its upcoming 71st session.
