Inu calls for Cybersecurity Treaty
Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu urged the United Nations (UN) for a Global Cybersecurity Treaty in order to keep cyberspace safe.
He placed the proposal at a meeting today with Lenni Montiel, Assistant Secretary General of United Nations for Economic Development, in the sideline of the 10th Internet Governance Forum (IGF) meeting began here on Tuesday, BSS reports.
The Information Minister also stressed that the United Nations should continue to promote functions if WSIS and IGF for progress of developing nations through knowledge and information.
Hasanul Haq Inu, who is also the President of Bangladesh Internet Governance Forum (BIGF), told the UNASG that democratization of internet governance should be IGF’s prime objective.
Approximately 5,000 people from different countries, including high-level government officials, civil society leaders and internet policy experts are attending the 10th IGF in person and online to discuss the future internet governance including its crucial role for implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The minister is expected to return home Saturday.
