Dipan murder case handed over to DB

The two cases filed on charges of the killing of publisher Faisal Arefin Dipan and the attacks on publisher Ahmedur Rashid Chowdhury Tutul and two others were transferred to detectives on Tuesday for proper investigation.
The Detective Branch of Police was given the charge to investigate the cases, said DMP Deputy Commissioner Muntasirul Islam.
The detectives of Dhaka South Division will investigate the Dipan murder case while the detectives of Dhaka West Division will probe the other case, he added.
Dr Razia Rahman Jolly, wife of Jagriti Prokashani publisher Dipan, filed a case over the murder with Shahbagh Police Station against some unidentified assailants on Monday.
On the same day, Shuddhaswar Prokashani owner Tutul filed a case over Saturday’s attack on him and two others at his office at Lalmatia in the capital.
Ahsan Kabir, a writer of Jagriti Prokashani, lodged a general diary on Monday night to get security, said Shohrab, sub-inspector of Banani police station.
The health conditions of Tutul and Ranadipam have improved further, but Tareque is still not out of the woods, doctors said.
They are now undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
The DMCH formed a nine-member medical board on Sunday for their treatment.
Assailants entered the office of Shuddhoswar Prokashani on Saturday and hacked Tutul, Tareque and Ranadipam with sharp weapons.
Dipan was stabbed to death at Aziz Supermarket in Shahbagh on Saturday evening.  He was a publisher of slain writer-blogger Avijit Roy’s books.
Both Dipan and Tutul were close to Avijit Roy who was killed in TSC area of the capital in February this year.
