Bangladesh beat Zimbabwe by 4 wickets

The Tigers have continued their winning trend in the home condition as they secured 4 wickets win against visiting Zimbabwe in the first T20 here in capital’s Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium at Mirpur on Friday evening.

 

The home team seemed struggling after losing Anamul in the early of the innings but the Tamim’s 31 off 28 balls contributed much to  secure the victory in the 1st T20I against Zimbabwe.

 

The visiting team put the home in pressure at the middle the chase when Nasir and Tamim departed in a quick succession.

 

Earlier, Zimbabwe set a 132 runs target for Bangladesh with Malcolm Waller’s outstanding fifty (68 off 31 balls) with 4 fours and 6 huge sixes that recovered their innings after the early collapse done by the bowling attack in the first T20 here in Mirpur

 

Malcolm Waller has been declared man of the match for his fantastic 68 runs.

 

Waller came into the middle after the damage as the visiting team lost early four wickets and he took the responsibility to mend the innings. He was successfully keeping the score board accelerated raising storm over the spinners especially debutant Jubair Hossain.

 

Bangladesh captain Mashrafe smashed twice in his first and second over pushed the visiting Zimbabwe in pressure.

 

The top orders of Zimbabwe failed to face the pace attack of the home team. The Tigers skipper sent Sikandar Raza at his very first over on 4 off 5 balls turning Zimbabwe 4/1. Soon after captain’s strike Al Amin Hossain made the score 8/2 taking the wickets of Chakaba at his first over.

 

On the 3rd over of the match, Mashrafe turned Zimbabwe 10/3 when he bowled Chigumbura in a good length ball.

 

The hosts Bangladesh have won the toss and elected to field first in the opening Twenty20 match of the 2-game series against visiting Zimbabwe.

 

The match began at 5.00pm (local time) at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur.

 

Earlier, Bangladesh whitewashed the visiting Zimbabwe in three-match ODI international series.
