Khaleda Zia’s London visit aims at conspiracy: Mozammel

Minister for Liberation War Affairs AKM Mozammel Haque, MP, on Wednesday said BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia has now been visiting London for hatching conspiracy against the country.

“In reality, Begum Khaleda Zia’s London visit is not aimed at meeting her son Tarique Rahman. We apprehend she will try to create an anarchic situation in the country again inciting militancy after her return home in her bid to topple an elected government,” he said.

The minister said this while speaking as the chief guest at a public rally in the city. Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote organised the rally in front of the National Press Club hailing Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on her being decorated with the United Nations highest award on environment affairs– Champions of the Earth-for successfully facing the adverse impact of climate change.

Jote general secretary Arun Sarker Rana presided over the rally, also addressed, among others, by joint convener of its Dhaka Divisional unit Barrister Sohrab Khan Chowdhury, assistant secretaries of Awami League sub-committee Minhaz Uddin Mintu and MA Karim, cultural personalities Anwar Hossain Majnu and Parul Akhter Lopa, freedom fighter Abdul Hye Kanu, Muktijoddha Projanma League leader Fatema Jahan Sathi and Jote leader Dilip Sarker.

Mozammel Haque said, “Apart from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina no head of the government or state of Bangladesh could get so many prestigious international awards over the past 40 years of independence. On the other hand, Begum Khaleda Zia could not bring any laurel or honour for the country other than making the country champion of corruption during her rule.”
