5 killed in Sirajganj road crash
At least five people were killed and 20 others injured in a road accident on Bonpara-Hatikumrul highway at Khalkula under Tarash upazila in the district on Tuesday at around 10:00pm.
Witnesses said the deadly accident took place when a Dhaka-bound bus of Bhai Bandhu Paribahan collided head-on with a Rajshahi-bound bus of Desh Paribahan in the area. Soon after the collision, a speeding truck crushed the victim bus Desh Paribahan, leaving five people dead on the spot and 20 others injured.
The identities of the deceased and the details of the incident could not be known immediately.
The injured were sent to Sirajganj general hospital for treatment.
The death toll may rise as the conditions of the injured were stated to be critical.
