Avijit murder accused Farabi acquitted
The Dhaka Cyber Tribunal on Wednesday acquitted Shafiur Rahman Farabi, who was engaged in issuing repeated death threats to writer-blogger Avijit Roy before his death, in a case filed under the ICT case.
Judge Ash Sams Joglul Hossain of the tribunal came up with the order in presence of Farabi, also an accused in the Avijit murder case, as the prosecution could not prove the charge brought against him.
Although the tribunal acquitted Farabi in the ICT case, he could not walk out of jail because he is accused in several cases.
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Shafiur Rahman Farabi from city’s Jatrabari Bus Terminal area on March 2, 2015 for issuing threats to several personalities for their writings.
